About the Swim Team
Welcome to the Waynewood Dolphins Swim Team. We are looking forward to an exciting summer!
Members of the WRA and authorized users of the club are welcome to participate. Read on to find the links to the practice schedules and schedule of events. Come to Super Sunday, May 5, 2013 to learn more about the swim team – as well as many other activities that WRA provides.
For parents of new swimmers to the team, please read the WW Dolphins Parent Handbook (available for download in Word or PDF). The team will have new swim suits this season. These suits will be available on Super Sunday and can be purchased directly from the vendor. Included in the registration cost is a new team t-shirt.
Always a competitive team, the Waynewood Dolphins swim at a competitive level, in a fun atmosphere. Children compete in age groups: 8 and under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, and 15 and up.
Our Little Dolphins, children primarily under the age of 8, is a less competitive group, focusing on stroke technique and learning how to practice as a team. See the Little Dolphins page for more information and a downloadable FAQ.
The Swim team practices Monday through Friday starting after school on May 28, 2013. These are optional practices for children 8 and older. Morning practices will begin the day after the Fairfax County Public Schools’ school year ends. See the Practice Schedule for specific times, age groups and dates.
The Schedule of Events shows all team swim meets and events. It takes up to 35 adults to run a swim meet, so each swim team family is asked to volunteer at a minimum of four meets during the season. We need help with concessions, timers, setup/takedown, table workers and officials.
