Thursday Night Dinners
Tired of rushing home from the pool and trying to think of something to serve for dinner? Hang around on Thursday nights and eat dinner with your neighbors! Thursday Night Dinners, coordinated by a few fabulous WRA volunteers, are a great way to relax and let someone else worry about dinner. However, like all great activities at the pool, we need volunteers. Please consider picking one or two Thursday nights to help out – grab your friends, book club buddies, bridge club group, bunco pals…..or just bring yourself and be part of a burgeoning Waynewood tradition.
This is an easy way to get involved with the WRA. Dinner is already planned, food is already purchased – you just show up, flip burgers or hot dogs, package them for sale, take orders and make change. We need 4-5 volunteers for each Thursday night.
At least one of our organizers will meet you at the pool to assist in set-up and clean-up. Volunteers need to arrive by 4:45pm and we begin serving dinner at 5:30pm. Dinners run until 7:00pm and cleanup takes about 20 minutes.
The menu offerings will be determined before the pool opens Memorial Weekend. In the past we’ve had Burger Nights, Chick-Fil-A Nights, BBQ Nights and a few Special Features meals. Hot dogs will always be served, and we will continue to offer chips, sodas/waters, a veggie sandwich option and frozen treats.
The modest profits made from these dinners are used toward the general improvements WRA makes each year to our pool and park areas.
Please email the Special Events Chair if you would like to serve on the Thursday Night Dinner committee and/or are interested in volunteering for any Thursday night dates from June to August. Many thanks to everyone for making these dinners a success!
