About Membership
The Waynewood Recreation Association is a non-profit members as shareholders organization located in the heart of the Waynewood neighborhood. Membership is restricted to residents in “nearby residential areas” which is defined as street addresses on both sides of the following streets: Collingwood Road to the north, West Boulevard (extended south to Fort Hunt Road) to the east and Fort Hunt Road to the west and south. Those members currently residing or later moving outside of these boundaries are grandfathered allowing them to keep their memberships.
To join the WRA, a Certificate of Membership is purchased for $650, a one-time processing fee of $50 is paid as well as $7 per family member (associate members) other than the certificate holder. Memberships may be sold back to the WRA for the current value upon moving or a desire to terminate a membership.
Membership is at full capacity with 515 membership units. In addition, we also have a limited number of Approved User spaces which are offered to Waynewood Residents. The waiting list for membership certificates is extensive, with the current wait for full membership estimated to be about 3-4 years. The dues amount for each season is determined by the budget that is approved by the membership at the Semi-Annual Membership meeting which is held on the second Monday of February. Annual dues must be paid by April 1st. Dues made payable to the WRA should be sent to the Membership Manager, 1132 Neal Drive, Alexandria, VA 22308. Dues paid after April 1st MUST INCLUDE a $50 late fee.
This year’s Super Sunday event will be held on May 5, 2013 from 1:00 – 3:00pm. At this time members may sign up for swim team, tennis lessons, tennis team, master’s swim, and other summer events. In addition you may volunteer to help with the annual Independence Day celebration and learn information about other happenings at the pool. This is also an opportunity to meet the coaches for the summer teams and to purchase swimwear for the Waynewood Dolphins swim team.
