It’s that time of year again when you are asked to dig deep to give time to your neighborhood community by volunteering for the WRA. The WRA organizes a number of great activities throughout the year, but these cannot happen without the help of our members. The WRA is a member run organization, meaning that volunteers are the only way to make these events a success. We have a great group of foIks who volunteer 80% of the time and they are getting burned out. Please help them by volunteering to oversee one of the following activities:

Fourth of July
Adult Pool Party
Halloween Parade
Holiday Caroling

Or if you aren’t in a position to oversee a whole event, consider giving a little time (we’re talking 1-2 hours) for the following events:

End of School Year Party
Fourth of July
Screen on the Green movie nights
Adult Pool Party
Thursday Night Dinners

By volunteering for the WRA, you get to be a part of the events that will be a big part of our children’s memories of growing up in this wonderful community and neighborhood. Please consider giving a little of yourself and your time for these great events. If you are one of those people who attend these events year after year and always intend to volunteer, this is the year to get involved! The Adult Program will run from September 7 to October 28, 2010, and offers Tuesday evening clinics and Thursday morning cardio sessions.

The Junior Program will run on Monday’s from September 13 to November 1, 2010, and offers 3 options: Quick Start (ages 5-8), Junior Camp (ages 8-15), and an Advanced (Team) Clinic.

You can also recycle your Capri-Sun drink pouches and chip bags in the green and yellow containers near the eating area in the pool.

It just takes a second to recycle these items and it can make a big impact on our global legacy. Thank you for your support!

To recognize Colonel Crumplar’s long and great service to our neighborhood and recreation association, the WRA Board of Directors named the lap pool in his honor and commissioned a plaque. The naming ceremony and plaque unveiling will be on July 4, 2010, during the opening ceremony of the WRA Independence Day celebration, with Colonel Crumplar present. A detailed history of the Crumplar pool project will be added to the WRA web site.
