About the Waynewood Recreation Association
Located on the corner of Dalebrook Drive and Waynewood Boulevard, the Waynewood Recreation Association park serves as a gathering spot for the neighborhood. On a pretty day you’ll find children laughing in the playground, little league teams practicing in the fields, family parties at the picnic tables, or a friendly basketball game on the court. The WRA was founded in 1958 by a group of Waynewood residents, and was incorporated as a member-owned social club. In 1960, the WRA received permits to build the main pool, playground, pool house, and tennis courts on 8.5 acres of land donated by Clarence Gosnell, the developer of the Waynewood neighborhood. The lap pool was later added in 1971, and tennis court lights were added in 1977. More than 3000 families have been members of the association and fave enjoyed the facilities.
